Australia
conjures up an image of a continent with rugged, barren landscape - the rough Outback.
Yet, you can find some of the world's oldest rainforests in Australia, ranging from
tropical rainforests like the Daintree in Far North Queensland to the sub-tropical
rainforests of Tasmania, almost 3,000 miles to the south.
Apart from a tremendous variety of
trees (many of which are thousands of years old), plants, orchids and flowers, these
rainforests are also home to an incredible number of birds and animals. Thankfully, unlike
in other parts of the world, this resource is carefully conserved - for the benefit of
visitors and future generations.
