Day 1
After an early morning pick up from your hotel, drive towards Tweed Valley a
spectacular part the Border Range National Park, perched on the rim of the second largest
caldera in the world. Heading to the valley, travel back in time as your guide explains
how the landscape has changed over thousands of years through the volcanic and ice ages.
Drive through valleys and 3,000 ft. elevations as the road winds its way through
Australia's largest sub-tropical rainforest area.
You will be travelling in a 4WD vehicle as the steep and
curvy roads prevent larger vehicles from travelling in this region. You will see some of
the most spectacular scenery in the hinterland, along with sugar cane fields and banana
plantations. Your guide is an expert on the native birds and animals that inhabit this
region, and he will be happy to point out some of the rainforests attractions. Visit
Mt. Warning an area which abounds with ancient trees, including 3000 year old Antarctic
Beech trees and 1000 year old cedar trees. The trees provide a majestic backdrop to the
clear waters of Brindle Creek, as you take a short walk through this amazing forest.
A highlight of the tour is a traditional Aussie bush BBQ,
where you can sample some of the local produce. Meats are cooked on a wood fire and
complimented with delicious Australian red and white wines.
There are opportunities galore for spotting kangaroos,
wallabies, koalas, goannas (large lizards) and other reptiles - all in their natural
habitat! At least 173 species of birds are known to live in the area, and you are bound to
see some pretty exotic varieties. Every part of this tour allows you to explore and gain
an insight into the natural wonder that is Australia. Arrive back at your Brisbane hotel
at approx. 5.30 PM. |
